Who handles the registration and immigration?

In Australia for nursing or allied health, we have staff dedicated to managing the registration and immigration processes for both clients and candidates. In New Zealand we connect you with information and external resources available.  Depending on your resources, with your assistance, we are happy to undertake the entire procedure on your behalf to ensure timely completion of the process. Of course, the process will vary depending on the grade of the position available. In any event, you do not have to be concerned about anything as we will provide you with plenty of help and guidance through the ‘red tape’.

Are the nursing or allied health professionals eligible for registration in Australia or New Zealand?
Most of the people we place will hold medical registration in their home country. In the course of a thorough screening process, we ensure that all the candidates that are presented to you meet the eligibility criteria for a given post and are able to obtain medical registration in Australia or New Zealand.
What do you charge for your services?
We charge clients a fee for service based on the commencement salary package of the health professional. Please contact Medacs Healthcare for further information.
What needs to be provided for the person during their stay?
As you can appreciate, relocating to a new country can be a challenging experience for many people, especially those with children. Medacs prides itself in providing our candidates with the latest available information about the practicalities of living in Australia and New Zealand and the new cultures. We would also ask our clients to provide as much support as they can for overseas healthcare works coming to work in their facilities. In addition to information resources, most hospitals assist with suitable accommodation for a short period (up to two weeks with most hospitals) until more permanent housing can be secured.
What will be your involvement in the selection process for a nurse/AHP/HCA?
The final choice will be yours, but we will do everything we can to guide you through the process and to present you with the best quality health professionals available at the time. We, therefore, ask our clients to provide as much support as they can for suitable qualified overseas trained staff coming to work in Australia or NZ. We will keep you informed every step of the way of the progress we are making. Once you have selected a health professional based on his/her CV and references, we are happy to arrange a telephone-conference if you so wish. Most of the healthcare professionals we place are recruited and selected based on a telephone-conference. On the rare occasions that you require a face-to-face interview, we will arrange this for you also. At the end of this process, you have the option to proceed with the appointment or keep looking for other suitable candidates.
How soon can a candidate start if hired through Medacs Healthcare?
Three months is the average time most of our overseas trained health professional staff need to arrange their affairs to begin a career in Australia or New Zealand. Some may be a little quicker and some may take a little longer. We need at least three months to obtain clinical registration and follow the immigration process.
What if things do not work out with the appointed candidate?
It is impossible to provide a 100% guarantee that there will never be a problem with a particular candidate, once appointed, even after he or she has been through our thorough recruitment process and the hospital’s own assessment. In the unlikely event that a candidate does not work out, under our quality assurance guarantee, we undertake to find a replacement at no extra cost. For a full statement of our guarantee, please contact one of Medacs Healthcare offices for clarification. We can confidently say, however, that having to replace a candidate is a rare event. Our consultants spend much time and effort in assessing the credentials of the candidate and we allow our clients ample opportunity to make their choice of candidates.

I found the staff at Medacs very helpful, and they were truly accommodating to my needs and preferences. I found belonging to Medacs was a great way to see other areas of Nursing available and it helped me find the next path I wanted to take, having a trial run before I truly committed.

Searching for work overseas can seem overwhelming and there are many things to stress about going through the process alone. As soon as I started working with my recruiter Hayley Newell at Medacs Healthcare, the experience went from overwhelming to one of the smoothest easiest employment search experiences in my life! I cannot thank Hayley Newell and Medacs Healthcare enough for guiding me through this opportunity.

I’m a client of Medacs working with our consultant on placing Remote Area Nurses into our WA Clinics. On a number of occasions, I’ve asked for delivery on 'near impossible' requests – like providing our request on Thursday afternoon for a Monday mobilisation. We’ve never been let down, receiving quality candidates to help us continue our service to some of the most isolated and vulnerable people on the planet. I work with a lot of agencies that promise the world and deliver very little. Medacs is one of our most valuable partners here at NHS.

My experience with Medacs Healthcare has been excellent and rewarding. The Medacs Healthcare team are helpful and attentive in all aspects from professionally liaising on the phone, emailing, and offering multiple opportunities with the different DHBs. They help arrange interviews, negotiating relocation and the salary with the DHB managers. They were flexible and professional, always willing to clear any doubts and providing ideas as well as explanations for applying for a visa.

Our Medacs consultant took on board previous discussions we’ve had had about trying new things and produced a whole new location for us. We've felt supported. We have relationships with other agencies who touch base with us during our contract, but it they don’t have the same personal touch and I think it’s was more of a "ticking the box exercise" rather than a genuine interest into how we were are going.

As a senior UK Psychologist looking for work in NZ during a pandemic, I knew there would likely be a plethora of challenges, so I turned to agencies as I thought their knowledge and both their explicit and implicit investment in finding people work would be helpful. Whilst other agencies were not following up on my emails after an initial response, Hayley from Medacs Healthcare was responsive, attentive and individualised in her approach, finding me interviews to answering and confirming details, which was very reassuring, given the distance and current climate.

My experience of Medacs has been a positive one since first applying online. The response and the service genuine and enjoyable. I’ve been a contracting mental health nurse for several years and worked with various agencies. Medacs in both New Zealand and Australia have supported me throughout numerous roles and always ensure I am well supported throughout the recruitment process as well as throughout the working role.
