Contribute your Mental Health Nursing skills in the Community where it matters most. Our fantastic Client who have facilities in East & South Auckland are seeking experienced Mental Health or Psychiatric Nurses to help support their Adult Mental Health facilities for full time Monday-Friday contracts with the opportunity of either extending your contract or being offered a Permanent position once it comes to an end. This facility offers a wide-ranging assessment and treatment service to adults with serious and enduring mental health issues. When people who are simultaneously experiencing mental health and addiction to alcohol or other drug issues approach, they are shown an open door, not a closed one. Each patient gets a face to face assessment, and as many as possible receive both mental health and addiction services in the one place, rather than being referred on to another service. The current staff at this facility have been trained to screen, assess and work with these individuals and their family /whanau and networks. This fantastic Client of ours employs 30 full-time equivalent staff who provide a service to around 650 to700 service users at any one time.

Types of Mental Health illnesses you will be asked to supervise may include (but not limited to); Addictions, Learning disabilities, Drug/substance abuse, Emotional disturbances, Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Depression, Severe anxiety and Gambling addictions.

Types of care which can be offered to patients at this facility include;

  • Individual therapy
  • Cognitive behaviour therapy
  • Medication
  • Planning treatment and working with therapeutic groups, families and networks,
  • Relapse prevention planning and education
  • Treatment strategies, including harm reduction.

You will be supported and collaborate with the following staffing types; Psychologists, crisis staff, triage staff, Psychiatrists, peer support specialists, other Mental Health Nurses, Cultural advisors, Alcohol & drug clinician's Social workers and more

Essential skills needed;

  • Current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) with the NZ Nursing Council
  • Post grad Mental Health certification or a Psychiatric Nursing certification
  • Must have evidence of indemnity insurance
  • A minimum of 1-year Mental Health Nursing experience
  • Community Mental Health Nursing experience
  • Ability to obtain x2 Clinical references from senior referees whom you have worked with in the last 2 years
  • Full NZ Drivers licence
  • CPR certificate
