About this Role:

Our client is currently looking for experienced Mental Health Nurses for one of their Eating Disorder clinics based in Central Auckland. This is for a 3-month temp assignment, starting asap. A variety of shifts are available including morning, afternoon or night shifts - whichever suit you best, so you can enjoy more flexibility. We have plenty of contracting opportunities all year round, so once this assignment is coming to an end, we will work on confirming you into your next assignment straight after.

As a regional specialist service, this facility provides assessment and treatment for children, adolescents and adults with eating disorders. It also includes services such as community/outpatient, intensive day programme and residential options. The community team provides specialist treatment to children, adolescents and adults presenting with moderate to severe eating disorders in the community and outpatient setting.

To be successful for this role, you need:

  • Flexibility
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have a strong commitment to a multi-disciplinary team approach
  • Previous experience working within the CAMHS sector with adolescents and their families or within Adult Mental Health Services.
  • Our Client is committed to providing evidenced based treatment, so familiarity with eating disorders treatment models would be an advantage.

Essential Skills & Experience Needed:

  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) with the NZ Nursing Council
  • Post-Grad Certificate in Mental Health or Psychiatric Nursing
  • Must be eligible to work in NZ with appropriate immigration visa
  • Proof of Indemnity Insurance

Welcomed extras:

  • Current CPR, Basic Life Support or First Aid Certification
  • CPI Certification
  • Immunization History
  • SPEC training

Responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake comprehensive and accurate risk assessment of patients
  • Work in partnership with patients, families and other health professionals involved to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate top level care
  • Promote the safety of patients providing independence, quality of life & good health
  • Can build and maintain therapeutic relationships
  • Have a high level of verbal and written communication skills including basic counselling, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to work independently and at times, in challenging situations
  • Case Management
  • Administering medication & writing and updating patient records
