Our client is currently looking for a full time, qualified Mental Health Nurse or Psychiatric Nurse to work in their Community Mental Health facility for adults aged 18 to 65 years of age with mild to severe mental health concerns. This facility is based in South Auckland and will require you to work Monday to Friday only from 0900am-1700pm or 0830am-1630pm.

As this is a community-based role, you will have the opportunity to travel and visit community-based patients with mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar/manic depression disorders, schizophrenia, psychotic mood disorders, personality disorders etc. You will be required to work independently and manage your own patients; however, you will gain support from your colleagues, management and others within the multi-disciplinary team. You will also be part of the client's weekly and monthly meetings as well as morning de-briefs to ensure safe working practices and patient management.

Essential Skills & Experience Needed:

  • At least 1-year Mental Health Nursing Experience
  • Community Mental Health experience essential
  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) with the NZ Nursing Council
  • Post-Grad Certificate in Mental Health &/or Psychiatric Nursing certification
  • Indemnity Insurance
  • Must be eligible to work in NZ with appropriate immigration visa
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Welcomed extras;

  • Current CPR, Basic Life Support or First Aid Certification
  • CPI Certification
  • Manual handling training
  • SPEC training certification

Responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake comprehensive and accurate risk assessment of patients
  • Work in partnership with patients, families and other health professionals involved to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate top level care
  • Promote the safety of patients providing independence, quality of life & good health
  • Can build and maintain therapeutic relationships
  • Have a high level of verbal and written communication skills including basic counselling, negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to work independently and at times, in challenging situations
  • Case Management
