About this Role:

Are you looking for an exciting role in which you can contribute your skills and knowledge as a Mental Health Nurse? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you. Our client is currently looking for an experienced Mental Health Nurse to work full time on an ongoing basis from Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm. This role would commence immediately until the end of August 2021, with the possibility of extending the contact. However, if this contract does not extend, we have plenty of other contracting opportunities all year round, so we will keep you busy!

This Care & Recovery Community Service for Adults is based in Central Auckland and the service provides a comprehensive range of therapeutic treatment options in collaboration with service users, their families/whānau, local communities and the Multi-Disciplinary Team. You will be looking after patients/adults with moderate to severe mental illness or psychological distress.

Responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to:

Practices in accordance with legal, ethical, cultural safety and professional standards, maintains and develops own clinical expertise and knowledge in specialty nursing practice, effectively supervises, directs and delegates to nursing students, fosters inquiry and critical thinking amongst colleagues to advance nursing practice and service user care, participates in peer review/feedback, assists in the implementation of initiatives to address differential access to healthcare services for Maori & follows the implementation of organisational and nursing goals and values.

To be successful for this role, you need:

  • Community Mental Health Nursing experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have a strong commitment to a multi-disciplinary team approach
  • Previous experience working or within Adult Mental Health Services.
  • Be able to work collaboratively in order to achieve best health outcomes
  • Experience & skills working with people from a range of cultural backgrounds.

Essential Skills & Experience Needed:

  • Current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) with the NZ Nursing Council
  • Post-Grad Certificate in Mental Health or Psychiatric Nursing
  • Must be eligible to work in NZ with appropriate immigration visa
  • Proof of Indemnity Insurance
  • A full NZ drivers' licence
  • Demonstrable clinical assessment clinical skills
  • Immunization History

Welcomed extras:

  • Current CPR, Basic Life Support or First Aid Certification
  • CPI Certification
