About the role
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Psychiatric Assistants to help cover various shifts in our Clients Acute Inpatient units in Central & South Auckland. Shifts range from AM, PM & Night shifts depending on our Client's needs.
Working as part of our Mental Health team will give you the opportunity to use your knowledge and experience to support patient's recovery pathways, build strong partnerships with patients/ communities. You may be expected to deliver personalised responsive support and rehabilitation plans and activities to enhance the well-being of patients whom you support. Our Clients are seeking a strong focused Psychiatric Assistants that involves the development of complex therapeutic relationships. You will be working alongside and supporting numerous healthcare professionals such as Registered Nurses, Psychiatrics Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Doctors, Social Workers, Mental health and addiction counsellors as well as other allied health care professionals.
A holistic and team approach will be expected when working with clients, families, groups as well as communities. Skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, and good decision making are of utmost importance to ensure safe and competent care are provided to patients.
Duties & responsibilities
As a psychiatric assistant, your responsibilities involve supporting people with mental health issues at a mental health care facility. You provide basic medical care by monitoring vital signs and dispensing medications. Your duties include assisting patients with bathing, dressing, and eating
You must have a valid Mental Health Certificate in order to be accepted for this role. Without the valid Mental Health qualification unfortunately, you will not be considered.
