About this role
We are seeking a Registered Social Worker available to assist with a 6-week assignment in an elderly inpatients unit in Central Auckland. This would be to cover a secondment and there may be an opportunity for extension. This will be for Monday - Friday day shifts only (no nights or weekends!) We would be looking for someone with previous inpatient experience. This assignment would start from 29/03/21 for around 6 weeks and will involve the provision of social work assessment, planning and treatment for people who are patients on 3 wards specializing in-patient treatment of older people. The role involves working with the older person's whanau and requires a working knowledge of organisations and resources relevant to the lives of older people facing changes in their living situation associated with health problems. The ability to work respectfully and effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team is essential, particularly around safe and timely discharge planning.
A working knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. the Protection of Personal & Property Rights Act & Enduring Power of Attorney), would be an advantage, as would previous in-patient physical health Social Work experience.
You will also liaise with existing providers where required, to create 'packages of care' or support.
