Clinical Educator - Contract

About this role

We are looking for Registered Nurse's to join our team of Clinical Educators to help cover a wide range of short-term contracts across Auckland (Central, North Shore, West & East Auckland).

Working as part of the Medacs contracting team, you will be supporting a respected tertiary education facility where you will role model professional behaviour to Student Nurses. Types of Nursing areas you may cover will range from, Aged Care, Surgical, Mental Health, Medical and more! You may be asked to assist in Hospital & Community settings and on rare occasions helping student Nurses with home visit placements too. You will be working with a caseload of either Year 1, 2, or 3 Nursing students, whilst they attend their clinical placement.

Note: This is, at first, a full time assignment from Mid-March 2025 until end June 2025, however there will be further opportunities throughout the rest of the year.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

• Ensuring the student's practice is supervised by an RN or registered health professional.
• Guiding and coaching the student's learning by working with students in practice to assist their understanding and development of nursing practice.
• Facilitate student reflection on their nursing practice to promote clinical decision-making.
• To support the hospital clinical staff in their role as teachers/mentors/preceptors of students. This involves significant liaison with all levels of nursing staff involved with students, e.g. Charge Nurse Manager (CNM), Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) and Staff Nurses.
• Providing timely verbal and written feedback and strategies towards achievement of the clinical practice competencies.
• Assessing the student's overall performance in relation to the clinical competencies.

Essential Requirements:

• At least 12-months NZ Nursing experience
• Current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) with the NZ Nursing Council
• Post-Grad Certifications are highly desirable
• Current CPR, Basic Life Support or First Aid Certification
• Must be eligible to work in NZ with appropriate immigration visa
• Must have your own reliable mobile & laptop
• Immunization History
• Be willing to undergo pre-employment health screening
