Medacs Healthcare is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist for contract opportunities within the Mental Health Short Stay Unit (MHSSU) based in Hobart.

The MHSSU works closely with the Emergency Department, Alcohol and Drug Services and Community Mental Health Services, supporting people presenting to ED with mental illness who require specialist mental health assessment and intervention.

About the Role

This is a great opportunity for an experienced mental health nurse who enjoys acute care, assessment and ED mental health triage.

You will:

• Provide specialist mental health assessment and clinical care within the MHSSU
• Assess consumers presenting to ED with mental health concerns and/or addiction-related comorbidities
• Provide treatment recommendations and contribute to clinical decision-making
• Work closely with nursing, medical and allied health teams
• Coordinate referrals and transfers to appropriate community and inpatient services
• Support effective discharge planning and comprehensive clinical handovers
• Work collaboratively across the ED, inpatient mental health, community mental health and Alcohol and Drug Services.

About You

To be considered, you will need:

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
• Strong mental health nursing experience
• Experience working at Clinical Nurse Specialist
• Experience in high-dependency and acute settings
• Previous Emergency Department mental health triage experience
• TAS Working with Vulnerable People registration requirements or willingness to apply.
• Current Australian driver's licence

The Contract

The service operates a fully rotational roster across seven days, with agency nurses rostered according to service requirements. The advertised roster is 80 hours per fortnight across morning, afternoon, evening and night shifts.
